AR Rahman celebrates India’s Independence anniversary with Together As One

Oscar winning music composer AR Rahman on the occasion of India’s 75th Independence day released a special track features the voices of 65 singers and is titled ‘Together As One’. The song is a remake of Rahman’s 1991 hit song Thamizha Thamizha from Mani Ratnam’s Roja.

Sharing the news on his twitter handle alongwith the song’s link, Rahman wrote, “Happy to be releasing #TogetherAsOne, a track of unity during these difficult times! 65 Singers have come together to present this ‘Thamizha Thamizha’ reprise for a very important cause.”

Popular singers who have lent their voice to this new rendition of Thamizha Thamizha are Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan, KS Chithra, Mano, Janaki Iyer, Krishnachandran, Ganga, Gopika Purnima and Haricharan. Veteran SP Balasubramanyam who recently tested positive for COVID -19 also features in the music video. The reprised version will be sung in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.

The track has been produced and released by a non-profit group called the United Singers Charitable Trust (USTC) , which was formed recently with popular playback singers Srinivas, P Unnikrishnan, Sujatha, Rahul Nambiar and Ranjith as the core members.
